For the tens of millions of Americans with a juvenile court or adult criminal record, the impact of those records extends beyond any disposition or sentence. Currently, there are more than 40,000 state and federal legal and regulatory restrictions that limit or prohibit people convicted of a crime or adjudicated for a delinquent act from accessing employment, business and occupational licensing, housing, voting, education, and other rights, benefits, and opportunities. This video showcases two clearinghouses of juvenile court and adult criminal records information supported by the National Reentry Resource Center.

The National Inventory of Collateral Consequences of Conviction (NICCC) provides a database of the state and federal statutes and regulations that impose, and those that provide relief from, collateral consequences and shares resources focused on these consequences and their impact. The Clean Slate Clearinghouse catalogs the state policies that provide individuals with a criminal or juvenile record the opportunity to clear that record as well as resources focused on records clearance.
