Infographic: Sustainability Basics: How to Develop a Communications Strategy for your Reentry Program

A communications strategy is key to sustainability, as it helps reentry programs tell the story of how clients are served and affected. An effective communications plan should consider the following questions:

  • Who is the audience? Will the communications plan target funders, policy makers, community partners, program participants?
  • What is the best format? Will the information about the reentry program be communicated as an elevator pitch, one-page flyer, brief report?
  • What is the timing & frequency? When will the target audience be informed? How often?
  • What is the platform? How will information about the reentry program be shared (e.g., websites, social media, email)?

This infographic from the Evaluation and Sustainability Training and Technical Assistance (ES TTA) team at RTI International and the Center for Justice Innovation (formerly the Center for Court Innovation), part of a three-part "Sustainability Basics" infographic series, provides a communications plan template and guidance on developing an effective communication strategy for your reentry program.
