Consistent and reliable funding is critical to all reentry programs. To secure resources beyond grant dollars, consider the following steps:

  1. Identify resource gaps. Map out program objectives, services to meet those objectives, and the resources required.
  2. Explore existing partnerships. Determine how existing partner organizations may support unmet program needs, such as through in-kind or monetary donations.
  3. Conduct outreach. Reach out to new partners who can fill the specific needs that cannot be addressed by existing partners.
  4. Look to the future. Create an ongoing list that notes specific needs and corresponding partners who can fill them.
  5. Access government resources. Determine whether some resource gaps can be filled by government subsidies or reimbursements.

This infographic from the Evaluation and Sustainability Training and Technical Assistance (ES TTA) team at RTI International and the Center for Justice Innovation (formerly the Center for Court Innovation) provides a sample template and guidance on how to identify and fill resource gaps for your reentry program.
