At the Intersection of Reentry and Public Safety: Using the Reentry Toolkit to Promote Safer Communities

At the Intersection of Reentry and Public Safety information sheet cover

More than 400,000 individuals reenter communities from state prisons and nearly 10 million people cycle into and out of local jails each year. When states and localities provide effective reentry programs and practices for people returning to their communities, it promotes healthier, safer communities.

This informational sheet reintroduces the National Reentry Resource Center's Building Second Chances reentry toolkit and the tools within it that local coalitions can use to advance evidence-based reentry strategies that fit their local needs. It also spotlights the Local Reentry Community of Practice, a network of five communities that will be using the reentry toolkit to advance reentry and promote safer communities.
