Adult Criminal Record Clearance Overview
- If you were convicted of a controlled substance case between 1995 and 2005, the record can be expunged after you complete treatment. You have to file a petition in court to start the process, and if you meet the criteria, the judge has to expunge the record.
- With certain exceptions, if you were convicted and later received a pardon, the record can be expunged. If you meet the criteria and present the pardon to the custodian of record, the record will be expunged.
With certain exceptions, if you successfully completed a deferred adjudication program for a first-time controlled substance offense, the record can be expunged when your case is discharged and dismissed. You have to file a petition in court to start the process, and if you meet the criteria, the judge has to expunge the record.
If your case ended in acquittal, declined prosecution, or the expiration of the limitations period without an action being commenced the record can be expunged. . If you meet the criteria and present the pardon to the custodian of record, the record will be expunged.

Records relating to arrest and court proceedings can be expunged by the court following successful completion of drug treatment in a controlled substance case from 1995 through 2005, so long as the person has no other controlled substance conviction and no subsequent conviction involving violence. 9 GCA § 67.412(c)(1).

Juvenile Record Clearance Policies Overview
- Most juvenile records should be automatically sealed when you turn 18. You should not have to do anything to get the record sealed.
- If the court extended jurisdiction over your case until you turn 21, your record should be automatically sealed when you turn 21. You should not have to do anything to get the record sealed.
- Juvenile records are automatically destroyed 10 years after your case is filed. You should not have to do anything to get the record destroyed.
