Three-Quarter Houses: The View from the Inside
Developed by the Prisoner Reentry Institute at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and in collaboration with MFY Legal Services and Neighbors Together, this comprehensive study examines “three-quarter houses” in New York City. Three-quarter houses are small buildings that rent bunks in shared rooms to people in transition who are seeking temporary housing. Through focus groups and interviews with tenants, this study describes the opportunities and challenges faced by residents with criminal backgrounds who reside in this type of housing.
