Juvenile Justice: Young People and Restorative Justice online report

This web-based report from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) provides an overview of the restorative justice model as it applies to young people who have committed a crime, including examples of when and why it is used, and who is eligible to participate in restorative justice programs.

The report provides a process chart for restorative practices for young people in Nebraska, an efficacy study for a restorative justice pilot program in Longmont, Colorado, and a summary of current restorative justice legislation across the U.S.

The report provides overviews and victim perspectives on restorative justice as well as the importance of prosecutor involvement. In addition to the overviews, the report provides several links to useful resources, such as best practice guides and other research and reports relevant to restorative justice for young people.
