Video: Evaluation Readiness for Reentry Programs

Do you want to evaluate your reentry program but aren’t sure where to begin? When preparing to evaluate your reentry program, consider the following:

  1. Clear program model: The program model should be clearly laid out.
  2. Stable program: Ideally, the program should be fully implemented and functional prior to the evaluation.
  3. Sufficient numbers: The program will need to have a sufficient number of participants enrolled in the evaluation.
  4. Data capacity: Determine what data sources exist, how complete and reliable they are, and what new data are needed.
  5. Leadership buy-in: Buy-in is required from the leadership of all involved parties, such as reentry program administrators.

This brief video from the Evaluation and Sustainability Training and Technical Assistance (ES TTA) team at RTI International and the Center for Justice Innovation (formerly the Center for Court Innovation) provides an overview of these five key considerations to determine whether your program is ready for evaluation.
