Trauma and Its Relationship to Successful Reentry

In this Second Chance Month 2022 event, Dr. Chris Branson, trauma expert, and Kathleen Guarino, Corrections and Community Engagement Technical Assistance Center (CCETAC) coach, share research on the lasting impacts of trauma and prevalence of individuals with traumatic experiences involved in the justice system.

They also discuss the impact trauma may have on reentry and what occurs to an individual when triggered by an event in their surroundings, along with how staff/agencies might recognize early warning signs and respond in a constructive way to decrease the likelihood of a major event.

The presentation is followed by a Q&A that addressed the impact trauma may have on returning citizens.
