Expanding Access to Methadone in Jails & Prisons
March 28, 2024
12:30-1:30pm Eastern
Presented by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center for Mental Health & Addiction Policy and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, this event will focus on opportunities to expand access to methadone in correctional facilities, including recent developments with the 2024 SAMHSA final rule on the use of methadone. Expanding the availability of methadone to more persons who are incarcerated is a key intervention to preventing fentanyl and other opioid related overdose deaths and reducing recidivism. In the event, federal policymakers, state and local leaders, and practitioners will discuss recent federal initiatives to increase access to treatment.
